Police in Uganda are investigating an incident in which a man allegedly killed his own child during a domestic dispute with his wife over food.
According to reports, the suspect identified as Zalimon Bwambale was involved in a quarrel with his wife on Monday night in Mughete village, Kitabu Sub-county.
Sources indicate that the man had returned home late and reportedly became unhappy after finding that his wife had prepared beans and kalo, also known as obundu, for supper. The disagreement is said to have escalated into a heated argument between the couple.
At the time of the incident, the woman had strapped the child on her back.
Reports further indicate that during the confrontation, the suspect allegedly picked up a pestle intending to attack his wife as she ran outside the house. However, the object reportedly struck the child instead.
The minor sustained serious injuries and sadly succumbed shortly afterwards.
Following the incident, the suspect reportedly fled from the scene before angry residents tracked him down and handed him over to police officers.
