A 34-year-old woman from Kisumu is fighting to recover after surviving a horrific acid attack allegedly carried out by two men on a boda boda, in an incident that has left residents shocked and outraged.

Mercy Awuor is currently admitted at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital, where she is receiving treatment for severe burns covering approximately 45 percent of her body. The injuries have affected her face, neck, and chest, leaving her in serious condition.

Recounting the terrifying ordeal, Mercy said the attack occurred as she was heading home from work. She noticed two men approaching her on a motorcycle before one of them suddenly splashed a liquid onto her body.
