Trapped in War: How Kenyan Students Survived Four Days Stranded in Dubai

A group of Kenyan students spent four terrifying days stranded in after sudden clashes broke out in the city.

Roads were blocked, flights were grounded, and the students were left with no clear way to safety.

One student said, “We did not know what was happening at first. There were explosions, and we saw armed men on the streets. Our phones barely had signal, and we were very scared.”

With streets unsafe, the students moved between friends’ apartments and guarded compounds to stay protected. Food was scarce, and they had to ration what little they had.

Another student described the fear: “We were hungry, tired, and scared. We prayed and tried to stay calm, but every sound made us jump.”

The students kept watch in shifts and stayed together to ensure no one was left alone.

On the fourth day, with guidance from the Kenyan community in Dubai and local authorities, they finally reached a safer area.

“We were relieved when we finally saw safe roads,” one student said. “We could call our family and let them know we were alive.”

The students credited their survival to staying united and helping each other. “We thank God for keeping us alive,” another said.

“We are grateful to everyone who helped us. It was the hardest experience of our lives, but we made it through.”
