Samson Kiprotich Cherargei has stepped in to support a young nurse who displayed remarkable bravery during the tragic helicopter crash in Mosop Constituency, Nandi County.
The fatal accident occurred on February 28 in the Chepkiep area and left residents in shock. Locals quickly gathered at the scene in a desperate effort to rescue survivors and assist the injured.
Among the first responders was Jacobeth Jeptoo, a recent graduate of Kendu Adventist School of Medical Sciences. Without hesitation, she wore protective gloves and began administering first aid to victims of the crash.
Her composed and courageous actions in the midst of chaos earned her admiration from Kenyans across the country, with many praising her professionalism and humanity.
In a statement shared on his official Facebook page, Senator Cherargei revealed that Jeptoo had completed her Community Health Nursing course in February 2026 and was preparing to sit for the Kenya Nursing Council qualifying examinations scheduled for May 2026.
However, she reportedly had outstanding school fee arrears and examination fees.
The senator announced that he had cleared her pending balances and paid for her upcoming qualifying exams to ensure she can formally register as a practicing nurse.
He further pledged continued support to help her secure professional placement so she can continue serving the community in honour of those who lost their lives in the crash.
Cherargei also expressed gratitude to the Chepkiep community in Mosop Constituency for their unity and solidarity during the difficult moment.
Jeptoo’s selfless response has since become a powerful symbol of compassion and hope during a period of profound grief.
