Eliud Owalo Says He Is Worth About Ksh 1 Billion

Former Deputy Chief of Staff and politician Eliud Owalo has revealed that his personal wealth is now estimated at about Ksh 1 billion. He made this statement during a recent public interview, attracting attention from Kenyans and political observers.

The revelation comes shortly after he stepped down from government to focus on his political ambitions, including a possible run for the presidency in the 2027 General Election.

According to Owalo, his wealth has grown steadily over the years through investments, property ownership, and business activities. This is not the first time he has publicly declared his net worth.

In October 2022, when he appeared before Parliament for vetting as a Cabinet Secretary nominee, Owalo stated that his net worth at the time was Ksh 645 million.

The latest figure of Ksh 1 billion shows a significant increase in his wealth over a period of about two to three years.

During the 2022 vetting process, Owalo explained that his assets included several properties and investments.

These included a residential home in Nairobi valued at over Ksh 100 million, another house in his rural home area, and large parcels of land estimated to be worth hundreds of millions of shillings.

He also declared ownership of several vehicles and investments in business ventures, including an unfinished hotel project and commercial tree farming.

Owalo has maintained that his wealth was acquired legally through years of hard work in both public service and the private sector.

He has previously worked as a consultant and held senior positions in government before joining the executive. He has often described himself as a disciplined saver and investor who believes in long-term planning.

The announcement of his current net worth has sparked debate among Kenyans, especially at a time when many citizens are struggling with the high cost of living.

Some people have questioned how public officials accumulate such wealth, while others argue that leaders should not be criticized if their wealth is acquired transparently and declared openly.

As Eliud Owalo prepares for the next phase of his political journey, his wealth declaration places him among Kenya’s financially successful politicians.

Whether this will help or hurt his political ambitions remains to be seen, but the disclosure has certainly added to the public conversation about leadership, wealth, and accountability in Kenya.
