SDA Observers Left Stranded After their Church Burnt To Ashes, Property Sh1M Destroyed In Nyamira

DCI officers in Nyamira have launched an investigation after Brown Sabbath School was burnt to ashes by unknown individuals, with property worth about KSh 1 million destroyed during the night.

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Nyamira County have started probing a fire incident that completely destroyed Brown Sabbath School in Township Ward.

The incident happened at night, leaving the place of worship and learning reduced to ashes and causing losses estimated at around KSh 1 million.

According to preliminary reports, unknown people are suspected to have set the building on fire before fleeing the scene.

The fire spread quickly and engulfed the entire structure before residents could respond effectively.

By the time locals arrived, the flames had already consumed most of the building, making it impossible to save any property inside.

The burnt structure had been serving as a makeshift church and Sabbath School for members of the Seventy Day Adventist congregation.

Church members said the building had been constructed only a few months ago through contributions from worshippers who were hoping to eventually build a permanent church.

The loss has therefore come as a major setback to the congregation.

Witnesses in the area reported seeing flames and smoke rising from the church during the night.

Some residents rushed to the scene in an attempt to put out the fire, but the blaze was too strong and spread too fast.

Their efforts were unsuccessful, and the building was completely destroyed.

Following the incident, DCI officers visited the scene to gather evidence and begin investigations.

They are currently trying to establish the cause of the fire and identify those responsible for the destruction.

Police have also appealed to members of the public to share any information that could help in the investigations.
