Nairobi Woman Recounts How Her Marriage Ended After Her Husband Was Brainwashed by False Prophet

A Nairobi woman has opened up about the distressing collapse of her marriage, describing a series of events marked by betrayal, emotional strain, and unexpected influences that ultimately led to separation.

Irene Njeri Wangui said her relationship began with hope when, at the age of 18, she moved from Nairobi to Nakuru in search of work.

While there, she met a man 15 years older who promised stability, love, and a formal marriage.

Encouraged by his commitment, including plans to pay her dowry, she agreed to start a life with him.

However, she reported that problems emerged just weeks into their union.

Njeri later discovered that her husband had previously been married and had separated from his first wife, information he had not disclosed.

As her pregnancy progressed, she said his behavior became increasingly unpredictable, creating tension in the relationship.

The situation escalated on the day she gave birth.

Njeri recounted that her husband arrived at the maternity ward accompanied by another woman.

When she questioned him, he claimed the woman was a friend’s spouse, but the incident raised serious doubts.

Her suspicions were later confirmed when she found photos on his phone indicating he was involved in an extramarital affair.

Around the same time, the couple faced another challenge when their newborn fell seriously ill with a condition doctors struggled to diagnose.

While seeking medical help, they were approached by a stranger who suggested they consult a prophetess.

According to Njeri, the prophetess told her husband that the child’s illness was linked to alleged infidelity on her part and claimed that she was not the right partner for him.

Njeri said these claims significantly influenced her husband’s actions.

He gradually distanced himself from her and eventually left her and their child, choosing to pursue another relationship.

After three years of marriage, Njeri decided to walk away and begin rebuilding her life as a single mother.

She says the experience, though painful, has strengthened her faith and resilience.
