Homa Bay Man Pays Dowry for Late Wife in Colourful Ceremony 2 Years After Her Death

Peter Onundo, a man from Homa Bay County, has touched many Kenyans after he paid dowry for his late wife, Sharon Ojuok, two years after she passed away.

The emotional ceremony, which was colourful and full of traditional customs, brought together family members, relatives, and friends who gathered to witness the rare act of love and respect.

Peter and Sharon’s love story began when they were still young.

The two first met while in primary school and became close friends. After completing their primary education, they went separate ways to pursue their studies.

However, fate brought them back together years later when they both joined Egerton University.

It was during their time at the university that their friendship grew into a romantic relationship.

According to Peter, their love blossomed while they were studying, and they supported each other through different challenges.

After finishing their studies, the couple continued their relationship and started building a life together.

Their happiness grew even more when they welcomed their first child, a baby girl, in 2023.

However, their joy was short-lived after Sharon fell ill shortly after giving birth.

Speaking to the media Peter explained that they sought medical attention, hoping she would recover.

Unfortunately, her condition worsened, and she passed away at the age of 24. Her death left Peter devastated and struggling to accept the sudden loss.

Peter said that before Sharon died, they had planned to formalize their union through traditional marriage rites, including paying dowry.

Unfortunately, her sudden death interrupted their plans, leaving him with deep regret that he had not completed the process while she was alive.
