Chaos on Garissa–Nairobi Highway as Mwingi and Kithyoko Bystanders Hurl Stones at Moving Bus

Travelers were left shaken on the Garissa–Nairobi Highway after a sudden outbreak of chaos in the Mwingi and Kithyoko areas, where bystanders were reportedly seen hurling stones at a moving passenger bus, disrupting traffic and causing panic among commuters.

According to eyewitness accounts, the incident unfolded in the afternoon when the bus was passing through a busy stretch of the road.

Without warning, a group of unidentified individuals emerged near the roadside and began throwing stones at the vehicle as it moved at moderate speed. The motive behind the attack remains unclear.

Passengers on board described moments of fear and confusion as the loud impact of stones hitting the bus windows startled travelers.

Some passengers were forced to duck for cover while others screamed as the driver attempted to maintain control of the vehicle and continue forward to safety.

The bus sustained visible damage, including shattered windows and dents on its body. Fortunately, no fatalities have been reported, although a few passengers are said to have sustained minor injuries from broken glass.

Security officers were later alerted and rushed to the scene, restoring calm and escorting the bus to safety. Authorities have since launched investigations into the incident, with a focus on identifying those responsible and establishing whether the attack was random or premeditated.
