Emurua Dikir MP aspirant Bernard Ngeno (BULUU) was visibly emotional as he visited victims of a recent tractor accident at Kaplong Mission Hospital. The incident left several people injured while he was campaigning.
"At Kaplong Mission Hospital, the victims of the accident are receiving treatment and are recuperating,” Ngeno said, fighting back tears. His visit brought comfort to patients and staff, highlighting the human cost of the tragedy.
Ngeno, who recently emerged second in UDA nominations, personally led a blood donation drive for one patient, Valentine, who urgently needed blood. The effort drew widespread support from the local community.
“I thank the many people who also offered to donate. The exercise is still ongoing, and the hospital has really appreciated the contributions,” he added, emphasizing the importance of community solidarity.
The emotional visit came amid Ngeno’s active campaign for the Emurua Dikir parliamentary seat, showing his commitment to both politics and social responsibility. Hospital officials praised the initiative.
Local residents applauded Ngeno for his hands-on approach and compassion, noting that the gesture went beyond politics, reflecting genuine concern for victims’ wellbeing.
The tragedy has cast a shadow over ongoing campaigns, with candidates being reminded to balance political engagements with public safety awareness. Ngeno’s response set a notable example.
The blood donation and hospital visit highlight the role of leadership in crisis, demonstrating that timely intervention can make a life-saving difference during emergencies.
Community leaders urged more citizens to participate in such humanitarian efforts, stressing that collective action is vital when accidents occur in rural areas.
Ngeno concluded by thanking the people of Kaplong for their support and solidarity, vowing to continue engaging in initiatives that prioritize both health and human dignity.
The accident and its aftermath remain a key concern for voters, with local campaigns now intertwining social responsibility with political messaging.
