“Please Bring Him Back”: Pregnant Wife Pleads After Critic of Government Goes Missing

A family in Ngecha, Kiambu County, is living in fear and uncertainty after their son, Samuel Ng’ang’a Mwangi, mysteriously disappeared shortly after speaking to his wife from his workplace along Thika Road.

The 36-year-old accountant has been missing since February 27, sparking growing concern among his relatives, friends, and human rights activists.

His family now fears that he may have been abducted, possibly linked to his outspoken criticism of the government on social media.

According to his wife, Ng’ang’a left home that morning as usual to report to work. Later in the day, he briefly spoke with her on the phone.

However, when she attempted to contact him again later, his calls went unanswered and his messages were never replied to.

In a desperate attempt to find him, the family visited his workplace, where they confirmed that he had signed in that morning. However, they were unable to establish when or if he officially left the premises.

“We went to his workplace and saw where he signed in, but they refused to show us where he signed out. They also declined to give us the CCTV footage from that day,” his distraught wife revealed.

The family believes Ng’ang’a’s vocal online activism may have put him at risk. His father noted that his son frequently used his Facebook platform to advocate for accountability and openly criticise government actions.

Meanwhile, his wife, who is eight months pregnant, has made an emotional plea to whoever might be holding him.

“We have two children—one in Grade Two and another in Baby Class—and I am almost due. I am asking whoever has taken him to please release him,” she said tearfully.

Human rights activists have also joined the search, urging authorities to investigate the case and ensure Ng’ang’a’s safe return.

The disappearance was officially reported at King’ero Police Station, as the family continues to search hospitals, police stations, and even mortuaries in hopes of finding him alive.
