Pilots Pays Last Respect To Colleague George Were By Carrying His Casket To His Final Resting Place

The late pilot George Were was laid to rest on Saturday at his rural home in Kabienge Village, Sondu Town, Nyakach Constituency, Kisumu County.

Friends, family, and members of the aviation community gathered to bid farewell to the esteemed pilot and honor his legacy.

Corporate Helicopters Kenya pilots, along with colleagues from across the aviation sector, participated in the send-off.

They were seen carrying the casket of the late Lt. Col. (Rtd) Cpt. George Were, OGW, to his final resting place, paying tribute to his contributions to aviation and his role as a mentor to many.

Were was the pilot of the helicopter that crashed in Nandi County on February 28, 2026, an accident that claimed six lives, including Johana Ng’eno, the Member of Parliament for Emurua Dikirr.
