Naiyanoi Ntutu Ngeno, the widow of the late Emurua Dikirr Member of Parliament Johana Ng'eno, has received strong backing from her family and clan to run for the vacant parliamentary seat.

The endorsement comes only days after the tragic death of her husband. Leaders within the Kapkaon clan say the move is meant to protect his legacy and keep his vision alive.

Family members confirmed that the decision was reached after several meetings among elders and relatives.According to insiders, the clan believes Naiyanoi understands the work her husband started and can continue serving the people.

Her supporters say she stood by the late MP throughout his political journey and understands the needs of the constituency.

The Kapkaon clan and its related subgroups are influential in the region and their support could shape the coming by election.

Elders say the community wants stability during a painful time. Many residents still mourn the loss of the outspoken legislator who served the area for three terms in parliament.

Johana Ng'eno died on February 28 after a helicopter crash in Mosop in Nandi County. The aircraft went down shortly after takeoff and killed all six people on board. Among them were the pilot and several of Ng'eno’s close associates.

The accident shocked many Kenyans and raised questions that investigators are still trying to answer.

Political leaders from across the country attended Ng'eno’s burial on March 6 at his home in Magondo village. Thousands of residents gathered to pay their final respects. National leaders praised him as a fearless voice for his people and a man who defended local interests with courage.

During his time in parliament he pushed for better roads, schools, and health services in the constituency. He also spoke strongly about land rights and opportunities for young people.

Many residents say those projects should not stop because of his death and they hope the next leader will continue them.

The upcoming by election is expected to attract several candidates. However the early endorsement of Naiyanoi has already created strong political momentum. Supporters believe her campaign will represent resilience during a difficult moment.

For many in Emurua Dikirr the race will not only choose a new leader but also determine how the late MP’s dream for the community continues.
