Betty Wanjiru Nyaga, a 28-year-old Junior Secondary School (JSS) teacher from Mwea East in Kirinyaga County, died as a result of injuries linked to physical trauma, a post-mortem examination has confirmed.
The report from the pathologist revealed that she suffered severe soft tissue injuries. These injuries later led to serious complications, including kidney failure, which eventually caused her death.
The findings have helped investigators better understand the nature of her death as police continue to search for those responsible.
Nyaga’s body was discovered last Wednesday in a bushy thicket in Mugumo-ini village, near the Nyamindi River.
The discovery shocked residents of the quiet village and raised concerns over safety in the area. Many locals expressed fear and called for increased security to prevent similar incidents in the future.
The post-mortem examination was conducted at Kibugi Funeral Home.
Family members attended the exercise, accompanied by officials from the education sector who came to support them during the difficult moment.
Friends, colleagues, and relatives described Nyaga as a dedicated teacher whose life was cut short in a tragic and painful way.
