The government has issued a fresh update on the planned disbursement of Ksh2,000 monthly support to vulnerable Kenyans, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening social protection programmes aimed at cushioning low-income households against the rising cost of living across the country.
Officials from the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection said the cash transfer programme remains a key pillar of the government’s welfare agenda and continues to support elderly persons, orphans and vulnerable children, and persons living with severe disabilities who depend on the funds for basic needs.
According to the latest update, the government is working to ensure timely payments to beneficiaries registered under the Inua Jamii programme, with authorities stating that verification and system improvements are ongoing to enhance efficiency and reduce delays experienced in previous payment cycles.
The ministry further explained that funds allocated for the programme have been secured in the national budget and that beneficiaries will continue receiving the Ksh2,000 stipend through the existing payment channels once all administrative processes are finalized.
Government officials also noted that efforts are underway to update the beneficiaries’ register to ensure only eligible individuals benefit from the programme, adding that the exercise is aimed at promoting transparency and eliminating cases of duplication or ineligible recipients.
Community leaders and local administrators have been urged to assist in identifying deserving households and ensuring that the information provided during the verification process is accurate so that assistance reaches the most vulnerable members of society.
The update comes amid growing public interest in the programme as many families facing economic challenges rely on the monthly stipend to purchase food, medicine, and other essential household items.
Authorities have assured Kenyans that the government remains committed to expanding social safety nets and strengthening support systems for vulnerable citizens as part of broader efforts to promote inclusive growth and improve livelihoods nationwide.
