The family of late photographer Nicholas “Nick” Kosgei could not hold back their tears today as they spoke in front of President William Ruto during the burial of MP Johana Ng’eno and five others who died in the tragic helicopter crash in Nandi County.
Nicholas’s family told the gathering that they had sold almost all the land they owned in Narok County to pay for his education.
They said their hope was that Nicholas would have a bright future, but now, after his sudden death, they are left with just a small piece of land that they have not even finished paying for.
The family said they do not even have enough space to bury him properly.
Led by Nicholas’s older brother, the family begged President Ruto to help them in this hard time. Their cries and stories moved everyone present, showing the real pain behind this national tragedy.
The burial ceremony took place at Emurua Dikirr Primary School, where thousands of mourners gathered to honor the late MP and the other victims.
President Ruto attended the service and is expected to speak later, responding to the family’s plea for assistance.
Friends, relatives, and local leaders described Nicholas as a hardworking young man who had worked tirelessly to achieve his dreams.
His family’s story touched many hearts, reminding everyone that tragedies like this affect not just the leaders but ordinary families too.
As the people of Emurua Dikirr and the nation mourn the loss of MP Ng’eno and the others, the Kosgei family’s appeal stands out as a heartbreaking reminder of the struggles that some families face even while trying to support their children’s dreams.
