A Sigh of Relieve For The Kipsigis Community After Johanna Ngeno's Rungu is Finnally Found

The Kipsigis community and the family of the late Emurua Dikirr MP , Johanna Ngeno can finally breath easy after the long search of his rungu bore fruits.

The rungu was found on Sunday morning among other items a week after the unfortunate chopper crash.

The traditional wooden club, which the late MP carried everywhere, had gone missing following the helicopter crash that claimed his life.

Its disappearance caused unease among the Kipsigis community, where the rungu is more than just a walking stick.

It is a symbol of leadership and authority, and returning it to the family is very important as is believed to keep the leadership within the community and not in the place the rungu was lost.

According to his staff member, Guruh Buvati, the rungu was covered by the tree which fell after the accident with only its tip showing.

“The rungu was recovered underneath the wreckage at the crash site. It had been covered by a tree that fell when the helicopter struck it, leaving only the handle visible, which explains why it took long for it to be retrieved,” Buvati said.

He added that the individual currently in possession of the rungu has already contacted the family of the late Ngong Ngeno Ole Kisiara to facilitate its return.

Buvati also revealed that several other items belonging to the team were recovered from the scene, including some of the cameraman’s equipment. However, a few items are still missing, and he urged anyone who might have come across them to return them.

“We are still searching for the camera. The speedlight has already been recovered. The Nikkor 70–200mm lens that was inside the bag was badly burned, and only some of its remains were found.

The Nikon D850 camera is still missing. If anyone has found it or comes across it, please inform us,” he said.
