How Bondo Crowd Received Ruto after Leaving a Church Service

President William Ruto on Sunday made a stopover in Bondo town shortly after attending a church service at ACK St. Michael's & All Angels Cathedral Bondo.

The President was received by a mammoth crowd of residents who gathered in the town to catch a glimpse of him and listen to his address.

According to videos seen, locals warmly welcomed the Head of State, cheering as he spoke and drummed up support for his reelection bid.

Ruto was accompanied by several leaders allied to the broad-based government as well as a number of leaders from Siaya County. However, Siaya Governor James Orengo was notably absent from the rally.

Earlier in the day, President Ruto had arrived in Siaya in the morning where he launched the Siaya Community Digital Hub before proceeding to attend the church service.

During the service, Oburu Odinga, a senior leader in the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), assured the President that their political cooperation would continue, saying their pact was not only for now but could extend beyond the 2027 General Election.

Meanwhile, a separate church event was also held in Mukuyuni Market where several ODM leaders allied to the Linda Mwananchi camp gathered.

Edwin Sifuna, the Senator for Nairobi, attended the service alongside Babu Owino (Embakasi East MP), Caleb Amisi (Saboti MP), and Obadiah Barongo (Bomachoge Borabu MP).

The leaders were received by the host, Joshua Kimilu, the MP for Kaiti Constituency. The church service is expected to culminate in a fundraiser and a roadside rally at Mukuyuni Market.

The Linda Mwananchi leaders have openly opposed the position taken by Oburu Odinga to support President Ruto’s reelection bid, highlighting the growing divisions within the opposition ranks.
