Ruto Asks Siaya MCAs to Encourage Governor Orengo to Seek Dialogue

President William Ruto has asked leaders from Siaya County to prioritize dialogue and cooperation between the national government and the county administration.

This followed a meeting between the President and Siaya Members of County Assembly (MCAs) held in Eldoret.

During the meeting, which was attended by 41 out of 42 MCAs, President Ruto made a statement that quickly drew public attention.

He reportedly told the MCAs to inform Siaya Governor James Orengo to look for him, a remark widely interpreted as an invitation for direct talks between the two leaders.

The discussions focused mainly on development issues affecting Siaya County and the importance of unity among leaders.

President Ruto emphasized that political differences should not stand in the way of service delivery and development projects meant to benefit ordinary citizens.

Governor Orengo was not present at the meeting, but the President’s message suggested a willingness to engage and resolve differences through conversation rather than confrontation.

Relations between the Siaya County leadership and the national government have at times appeared strained, especially following public criticism of national policies by the governor.

According to leaders who attended the meeting, the President urged MCAs to work closely with both county and national governments to ensure projects are implemented smoothly.

He warned against political divisions that could slow down development or deny residents essential services.

The MCAs reportedly assured the President of their commitment to supporting development initiatives in the county. They also dismissed claims that the meeting was meant to discuss the impeachment of the governor, stating that no such agenda was presented.

Political observers view the President’s remarks as a signal that the national government is open to reconciliation and cooperation, even with leaders from opposing political backgrounds.

The call for Governor Orengo to seek dialogue is seen as an effort to ease political tension and refocus attention on development.

Residents of Siaya County have expressed hope that improved relations between leaders will translate into better services and faster development. Many believe that cooperation between county and national leaders is key to addressing challenges such as infrastructure, health, and education.

The Eldoret meeting highlights the importance of dialogue in leadership. As the country continues to navigate political differences, calls for unity and cooperation remain central to achieving national and county development goals.
