Big Relief for Parents as Githunguri Slashes Day Secondary School Fees to KSh 500

Education in Githunguri Constituency just became more affordable. Parents of day secondary school students will now pay only KSh 500 per term, following a new initiative aimed at supporting learners and easing the cost of education.

The announcement, made by MP Gathoni Wamuchomba, has been received with excitement and relief by many families.

With the rising cost of living, paying school fees has been a major challenge for parents. This move ensures that students can stay in school without frequent interruptions caused by fee balances.

So how does it work? Parents pay the KSh 500, while the NG-CDF bursary program takes care of the rest of the school fees. This means essential learning costs are fully covered, giving students a stable learning environment.

The program will benefit thousands of learners, with more than 7,000 day scholars expected to enjoy the reduced fees. To further support students, the constituency has also rolled out a school lunch programme, ensuring learners receive meals during the day.

Proper nutrition plays a big role in helping students stay focused and perform better in class.
Many parents have shared positive feedback, saying the initiative has reduced stress at home and motivated students to attend school consistently.

Education stakeholders believe the move will lead to higher completion rates and better academic results.
This bold step shows how education can be made accessible when leaders prioritize the needs of the community.

If well managed, the Githunguri initiative could inspire other constituencies to adopt similar programs and invest more in the future of young people.
