Siri Imetobolewa: Report Reveals What Uhuru Used To Do To Raila When He Was Sick & Before His Death

Former Press Secretary Dennis Onsarigo has detailed the grave extent of Raila Odinga’s COVID-19 battle in 2020 and the private compassion shown by his then-political rival, former President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Speaking on the Iko Nini Podcast, Onsarigo disclosed that Raila’s condition was so severe he was bedridden, dependent on an oxygen machine, and struggling to breathe. His daughter, Winnie Odinga, was reportedly his only frequent visitor during this critical period.

Amidst this vulnerability, Onsarigo highlighted a stark contrast in the political arena. He revealed that several politicians allied with Raila chose to visit State House to meet with President Kenyatta instead of their ailing leader.

Onsarigo suggested this created a poor impression, as it could easily be construed that they were discussing political succession and positioning themselves for leadership, having seemingly written off Raila's chances of survival.

"The virus had badly impacted his lungs... his life was genuinely in danger," Onsarigo stated, emphasizing that Raila's death could have occurred as early as 2020.

The most poignant detail, however, was the behind-the-scenes role of President Kenyatta. According to Onsarigo, the former president went to great lengths to ensure his political rival received the best possible medical care.

This private intervention reveals a significant layer of personal compassion that transcended their public political disagreements.

These disclosures offer a dramatic glimpse into a moment of high personal and political crisis, underscoring the fragility of Raila's health at the time and the complex, often hidden, relationships at the pinnacle of Kenyan power.
