A fresh political storm has erupted after Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya launched a fierce attack on the “Linda Ground” battalion, accusing the group of orchestrating political persecution against ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna and Nairobi Senator Edwin Osotsi.
Speaking during a charged political gathering, Natembeya claimed Osotsi had been unfairly targeted within ODM despite his loyalty to the party and Raila Odinga. He alleged that powerful forces around Raila were uncomfortable with leaders who openly spoke their minds.
“Osotsi amepigwa vita kama mbwa. Baba Raila aliamini Sifuna na alikuwa akiongea kwa niaba yake ndio sababu hawamtaki,” Natembeya declared, drawing loud reactions from the crowd.
The governor’s remarks have now intensified growing tensions inside ODM and the broader Azimio camp, where divisions over loyalty, succession politics, and influence around Raila continue to surface publicly.
Natembeya appeared to defend both Sifuna and Osotsi as leaders being punished for remaining vocal and independent.
His comments also hinted at deep mistrust toward factions allegedly operating under the “Linda Ground” movement, a political slogan increasingly associated with defending Raila’s influence at the grassroots.
Although neither Sifuna nor Osotsi had publicly responded by the time of publication, Natembeya’s remarks quickly triggered heated debate online, with supporters and critics clashing over the future direction of ODM politics.
Political analysts say the statements could further expose internal cracks within the opposition at a time when the coalition is trying to maintain unity ahead of future political battles.
Natembeya, who has recently positioned himself as an outspoken critic of certain political power centers, warned against silencing leaders through intimidation and political isolation.
His latest attack now places the “Linda Ground” brigade under fresh scrutiny as pressure mounts within ODM’s evolving power struggle.
