Residents of Free Area in Nakuru are still talking about a shocking yet hopeful incident that unfolded yesterday afternoon.
Pamela, a young girl who recently lost her father in a road accident, watched in horror as her stepmother, Monica, burned her university admission letter in the fireplace.
"I just wanted to watch your dreams go up in smoke," Monica reportedly told the girl, insisting that Pamela would instead work as a house girl in her local hotel.
Pamela, who had worked tirelessly to escape her difficult home life, felt her entire future turning to ash.
However, the gloom was short-lived. A man identified as Mr. Robertson suddenly arrived at the gate carrying a distinctive pink suitcase. He claimed to be fulfilling a secret request made by Pamela's late mother years ago.
"I am here because your mother requested it," Mr. Robertson told the stunned girl. Witnesses say the suitcase contained school fees and documents that ensured Pamela would not miss her spot at the university.
While the family remains divided, neighbors have expressed relief that the girl's hard work was not wasted by malice.
