I Warned Them But They Did Not Listen - Peter Kenneth Alleges What He Told Mt Kenya People

Former Gatanga MP and seasoned politician Peter Kenneth has come out with a pointed and unapologetic message to the people of the Mt Kenya region, saying he warned them about what was coming and that they chose not to listen. Now that the consequences are unfolding, he says he is simply watching.

Kenneth's statement, carries the weight of someone who saw the storm approaching long before it arrived. He says he has always heard the people of Mt Kenya crying about their situation under the current government, but rather than rushing to console them, he has chosen to be candid about what he believes led them here.

His message is blunt. He told them. They did not listen and now they are asking what to do.

The implication is clear. Kenneth had cautioned the Mt Kenya electorate against throwing their full support behind President William Ruto in 2022, warning that the region's interests would not be adequately protected or prioritised under the Kenya Kwanza administration.

Those warnings, he says, fell on deaf ears as the region went overwhelmingly for Ruto in what was seen as a decisive bloc vote.

But with the 2027 election drawing closer and frustration mounting in the region over unfulfilled promises, broken political commitments, and a growing sense that Mt Kenya's political capital was spent without adequate return, voices like Kenneth's are being revisited with fresh eyes.

He says now that the people are asking what to do, he is watching. Not because he does not care, but because he already played his part. He gave the warning. The choice that was made was not confirmed.
