According to Sifuna, Osotsi was violently attacked while he was getting a haircut, forcing medical teams to airlift him to Nairobi for urgent treatment.
Sifuna said he had spoken with members of Osotsi’s team and confirmed that the senator had been hurt in the attack. He strongly condemned the violence and urged police to quickly arrest and charge those responsible.
Senator Osotsi, who represents Vihiga County in western Kenya, has been in the news recently after a terrifying but non‑fatal aviation incident.
Days earlier, he was among 39 passengers aboard a Safarilink flight from Kisumu that veered off the runway at Wilson Airport in Nairobi.
In that incident, no one was seriously hurt, and all passengers and crew walked away safely. The plane had skidded on a wet runway while landing, and Osotsi praised the pilot for averting what could have been a worse outcome.
He also used the experience to raise concerns about safety problems at the airport and called for urgent improvements.
Before the runway scare, Osotsi had used his position in the Senate to highlight issues such as county financial oversight and development matters affecting communities across Kenya.
