Nairobi: A Teacher Breaks A Student's Hand After Brutally Caning Him 120 Times In Class

A family residing in Utawala has demanded justice after their ten-year-old son was allegedly beaten by a teacher at Bridgerose Jewels Academy, resulting in serious injuries that required hospitalisation.

The case has sparked outrage within the community, with reports suggesting the punishment was meted out because the pupil failed to complete an assignment correctly.

The family stated that the teacher first disciplined the boy in front of other students before taking him to a vacant classroom, where the assault reportedly intensified.

According to the child’s guardian, the teacher flogged him multiple times in class and then continued the punishment with dozens more strokes in another room.

The boy was later taken to hospital, where he was diagnosed with severe injuries, including a broken arm.

Family members say the injuries have left the child in severe pain, making it impossible for him to walk, sit, or move comfortably.

They added that he is unable to perform basic bodily functions without assistance and has had to use nappies due to his condition.

The boy’s mother recounted that when she visited the school to confront the issue, she was allegedly harassed by security guards and staff, including the accused teacher. She also claimed the teacher remained on duty and continued teaching after the incident.

Efforts by the media to obtain comments from the school were unsuccessful. It was also reported that the deputy principal showed little concern, instead telling the mother she should be thankful that the school had paid for the child’s X-ray.

Authorities have launched investigations into the matter, and the teacher involved is said to have disappeared. The child’s mother has vowed to continue seeking justice as the case progresses.
