Thousands of Kenyans are expected to converge at Kajiunduthi Stadium in Muthambi Ward today for a major fundraising concert and solidarity gathering in support of the family of viral sensation Musa Kihara, known as the “Kwa Mbae” boy.
The five-year-old PP1 pupil from Ituntu Village rose to fame in April after a humorous video in which he confidently directed a boda boda rider using local landmarks: “Ukifika hapo kwa Mbae… karibu kwa kina Monda… na kwetu unajua?” The innocent clip sparked nationwide memes and widespread affection, but later revealed the family’s deeper struggles.
Musa’s elder brother, nine-year-old Lewis Baraka, has been battling throat cancer since January 2026. Initially treated at Chogoria Hospital, he was later transferred to Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral & Research Hospital.
The family faces substantial medical bills for his ongoing treatment, while the father has spent extended periods as caregiver, leaving the mother to care for their six children at home.
Organised by content creators and well-wishers, including comedian Obidan Dela, today’s event — branded the “Jaza Stadium Concert” — aims to raise critical funds for Lewis’s treatment and family support.
The programme is scheduled to begin around 11:00 a.m., featuring performances, speeches, and direct contributions from attendees.
Support has already poured in from various quarters. Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko donated KSh 100,000 for treatment and KSh 20,000 for the family.
Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris contributed KSh 100,000 and offered one-year SHA medical cover for the family.
Pastor Victor Kanyari also pledged financial support, while TikTok users raised over KSh 165,000 within a single hour during an earlier visit.
Additional gestures include school uniforms, gifts, scholarship offers for the boys, and a sponsored family trip to Mombasa.
The gathering symbolises Kenya’s “Sisi kwa Sisi” spirit — turning a light-hearted viral moment into a powerful community-driven response. Organisers have established a transparency committee to ensure accountability of all contributions.
As the stadium fills today, hopes remain high that the collective effort will significantly ease the family’s burden and support Lewis’s full recovery.
