A Kiserian man posing as a medical practitioner under Aspen Pharma Ltd. was sentenced to 15 years in prison for defiling a 14-year-old girl who sought treatment at his clinic on April 29, 2022.
The court heard that the accused, while pretending to conduct a medical examination, instructed the minor to undress inside the consultation room and proceeded to defile her.
The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, through Prosecutor Terry Kahoro in Ngong, Kajiado County, proved the case beyond reasonable doubt.
Evidence included witness testimony, medical examination reports, and a DNA report confirming the offense.
Prosecutors also established that the accused was not a licensed medical practitioner and was illegally operating a medical facility.
He was convicted of defilement of a child, contrary to the Sexual Offences Act, and received the maximum 15-year sentence.
The court further convicted him for running an unlicensed medical facility, citing the grave breach of public trust and the need to protect patients from unqualified practitioners.
The ODPP reiterated its commitment to prosecuting sexual offenders and unlicensed medical operators who endanger vulnerable children.
