Police in Nyando Sub County, Kisumu County, have detained a couple suspected of murdering their 15-year-old daughter before later moving her body to a mortuary in what investigators believe was an attempt to hide the offence.
The disturbing case emerged on April 29, 2026, after a funeral home manager informed police when the body of a teenage girl was delivered to the facility under questionable circumstances.
Officers from Ahero Police Station responded and found the body of the Form Two student bearing several severe injuries.
Detectives recorded deep head wounds believed to have been caused by a blunt weapon, bruises on both hands, stab injuries on both legs, a swollen left foot, and broken kneecaps.
Investigators also noticed mud on the girl’s stomach, increasing suspicion that she may have been attacked outdoors before she died.
Early enquiries established that the body had been brought to the mortuary by the girl’s parents.
Acting on the lead, officers quickly tracked the suspects to their residence in Kakola, where they were taken into custody.
The pair are currently being held at Ahero Police Station as investigations continue. They are expected to appear in court after legal procedures are completed.
The body was transferred to Othoo Funeral Home mortuary, where it remains awaiting a postmortem examination to establish the exact cause of death.
Police said the motive for the killing had not yet been determined at the time of publication.
The incident has sparked anger and grief within the local community, with residents demanding justice for the teenager.
Authorities said efforts to establish the full details of the case are still ongoing.
