Women Falling From A Trolley After Paying to Cross Flooded Road Sparks Reactions

Kenyans on social media have shared mixed reactions after a video showed two women falling into floodwater while being carried across a flooded road in Nairobi’s Central Business District.

In the short clip, the two women are seen standing on top of a trolley normally used to carry goods around the city centre. A man then quickly pulls the trolley to help them cross a flooded section of the road as people nearby cheer and watch.

However, after moving a few metres, one of the women loses balance and falls into the water, followed by the second woman. Both end up in the flooded road as onlookers react in shock and laughter.

The incident sparked reactions with many Kenyans commenting about thir payment and whther they can be refunded.

The viral moment happened as Nairobi continues to experience severe flooding following heavy rainfall that began on Friday.

Several roads in the city were submerged, making it difficult for both pedestrians and motorists to move around. In some places, floodwater reached knee or even hip level, forcing residents to wade through water to reach safer areas.

The flooding has caused major disruption across the capital. According to reports, several vehicles were damaged and many people were stranded after roads became impassable.

Authorities also confirmed that some people lost their lives during the floods, while emergency teams were deployed to rescue those trapped in affected areas.

As the floods worsened, some Nairobi residents found unusual ways to help stranded commuters cross flooded sections of roads.

In several videos circulating online, locals can be seen carrying people on their backs or using makeshift methods such as trolleys to transport pedestrians through deep water—often for a small fee.

While some people praised the creativity and hustle of those helping commuters, others criticised the practice, saying it takes advantage of people who are desperate to cross flooded roads.

The video of the two women falling has now become one of the most talked-about moments online, highlighting both the dangers of the floods and the challenges Nairobi residents face during heavy rains.

Authorities have warned residents to remain cautious as more rainfall is expected, raising fears that flooding could continue in several parts of the country.
