It is a sad day in Moiben, Uasin Gishu County, after a tragic road accident involving a National Youth Service (NYS) lorry claimed one life and left several others injured.
According to reports, the accident happened in the Rayfarm area when an NYS tipper lorry crashed into a tractor. The impact of the collision was severe, leading to the death of one person at the scene while others sustained injuries of varying degrees.
Images shared from the scene show the NYS truck stuck on the side of the road. The tractor, however, was badly damaged, with its parts scattered across the area, showing the force of the crash.
Witnesses described the incident as shocking, saying the vehicles collided suddenly, leaving little time for any reaction.
The injured victims were rushed to nearby health facilities for treatment as emergency responders arrived to manage the situation and clear the road.
This incident adds to the growing number of road accidents being reported across Kenya. Many Kenyans continue to raise concerns about the state of roads, which are often blamed for such tragedies.
Poor road conditions, including potholes, narrow roads, and lack of proper signage, have been cited as major contributors.
In addition, reckless driving, over-speeding, and failure to follow traffic rules are also leading causes of accidents in the country. Mechanical failures and poor visibility, especially during bad weather, have also been linked to deadly crashes.
Road users are being urged to exercise caution and follow traffic rules to help reduce such unfortunate incidents.
