“Alikuwa Mtaalamu” CCTV Captures Man Stealing A Motorbike Smoothly In Utawala

Residents of Utawala have been left on edge after CCTV footage surfaced showing a man stealing a motorbike in the dead of night with unsettling ease.

The incident, which occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, has quickly made rounds across neighborhood WhatsApp groups, sparking concern among boda boda riders and locals alike.

The video, captured just before 2 a.m. near a petrol station along a quiet road, shows a lone suspect approaching a parked bike with calculated calm.

Dressed in a dark hoodie and track pants, the man appears unbothered as he surveys the area. After briefly walking past the motorbike, he returns, pulls out a small object, and within seconds gains control of the ignition. Moments later, he rides off smoothly, disappearing into the night without raising any alarm.

For the owner, a rider who depends on the motorbike for his daily income, the loss was discovered at dawn when he stepped out to begin work.

What should have been a routine morning turned into a distressing search for his only source of livelihood.

Police in Embakasi East have since taken up the case, reviewing the footage and tracking the motorbike’s registration through available surveillance systems.

Early indications suggest the suspect may not be an amateur, given the speed and precision of the theft.

The incident has reignited fears over rising cases of motorbike theft in the wider eastern Nairobi area. Riders are now taking extra precautions, from securing bikes with chains to opting for guarded parking, even at additional cost.

As investigations continue, residents are being urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity. For many in Utawala, the footage is more than just a viral clip—it’s a stark reminder of how quickly routine can turn into loss.
