“We Will Negotiate Hard!” – Oburu Declares ODM’s Bold Push for Deputy President Seat

Veteran politician Oburu Oginga has declared that the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) will not shy away from demanding a powerful position in any future political coalition.

According to him, the party is ready to “negotiate hard” to secure the Deputy President (DP) seat.

Speaking at a time when political alliances are slowly taking shape, Oburu made it clear that ODM believes it deserves a top leadership role.

He argued that the party has built strong national support over the years and cannot accept being pushed to the sidelines in coalition talks.

ODM has remained one of Kenya’s most influential political movements, commanding a wide following across several regions.

Because of this strength, Oburu insists the party must be treated as a key player in any power-sharing arrangement. For him, settling for a minor position would not reflect the party’s weight in national politics.

His remarks signal the beginning of what could be intense negotiations among political partners.

Coalitions in Kenya often require careful bargaining, as parties balance regional interests, voter expectations, and leadership ambitions.

By openly stating that ODM wants the DP seat, Oburu has set the tone for firm and possibly tough discussions ahead.

Political observers say such statements are common during early alliance talks. Leaders usually position their parties strongly to gain advantage before formal agreements are reached.

However, Oburu’s firm language shows ODM is serious about its demands and confident in its bargaining power.

The Deputy President’s seat is one of the most influential offices in the country. Holding the position means having a strong voice in government decisions and national direction.

For ODM, securing this role would not only strengthen its influence but also reassure supporters that their votes carry weight at the highest level.

As the political season slowly gains momentum, Kenyans are watching closely. Many are eager to see which alliances will form and how leadership positions will be shared.

Oburu’s declaration has added fresh energy to the conversation and reminded rivals that ODM intends to play a central role.

Whether the party will succeed in clinching the DP slot remains to be seen. What is clear, however, is that ODM is preparing for negotiations with determination and confidence.
