"I Wish Ngeno's Wife Was a Candidate in Emurua Dikir" ODM MP Remarked After She Blasted Gachagua

Millie Odhiambo has publicly praised Naiyanoi Ntutu, the widow of the late Emurua Dikirr MP Johana Ng'eno, describing her as an exceptionally strong woman amid growing political activity ahead of the constituency by-election.

Speaking on the evolving political situation, the vocal ODM legislator expressed admiration for Ntutu’s resilience following the death of her husband, noting that she has demonstrated remarkable strength during a deeply emotional and politically sensitive period.

Millie further remarked on the broader challenges women face in Kenyan politics, stating that despite her own interest in leadership contests such as Emurua Dikirr, the political environment remains difficult for female candidates due to entrenched structures and intense competition.

In recent weeks, Naiyanoi Ntutu has emerged as a prominent political figure within the constituency, actively engaging residents and shaping early narratives around the upcoming electoral contest.

She recently hosted hundreds of women at her home, where she strongly urged them not to support a candidate linked to Rigathi Gachagua’s Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP), signaling a clear political stance in the by-election race.

Ntutu has also accused Gachagua of disrespecting her family during their mourning period, while reiterating that her late husband had firmly aligned Emurua Dikirr with the ruling United Democratic Alliance.

She called on residents to honour Johana Ng’eno’s political legacy by rallying behind the UDA candidate in the upcoming by-election, framing the vote as both a political and symbolic continuation of her husband’s influence in the region.

Political analysts observing the situation say Ntutu’s growing public involvement has significantly influenced early campaign dynamics in Emurua Dikirr, particularly by slowing momentum for the DCP-aligned candidate.

They further note that her endorsements and public messaging appear to be consolidating support around the ruling party’s preferred candidate, making the constituency one of the key early political battlegrounds in the by-election cycle.

As political temperatures rise, Emurua Dikirr is increasingly shaping up into a closely watched contest, where grief, legacy politics, and party loyalty are intersecting in a highly competitive race.
