A video has emerged online showing a Member of County Assembly from Lucky Summer ward in Nairobi allegedly directing a group of young men to carry out knife attacks on people.
The clip was shared by Cleophas Malala the Deputy Leader of the Democracy for the Citizens Party on his Facebook page drawing immediate widespread outrage.
In the footage the MCA identified as Hon. Ringo is seen seated in a hall addressing attentive youths. Speaking in Swahili he tells them: "Kuna kazi ya visu.
Kuna kazi ya kukata watu. Kwa hii group hakuna muoga." This translates to: there is work involving knives there is work of cutting people and in this group there is no coward.
Malala demanded the MCA's immediate arrest warning that if authorities failed to act by evening citizens should take matters into their own hands.
He also linked the video to Interior PS Raymond Omollo alleging a coordinated effort to deploy goons for political violence across the country.
The video surfaces days after Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi was brutally attacked by suspected goons at a Kisumu restaurant.
Speaking from his hospital bed Osotsi described the assault as a politically instigated assassination attempt. He was later airlifted to Nairobi where he remains admitted with serious injuries.
Opposition leaders including Wiper Party's Kalonzo Musyoka have pointed fingers at PS Omollo accusing him of sponsoring criminal gangs.
Critics claim Omollo has ties to goon networks operating in Kisumu and beyond with some linking perpetrators to multiple attacks on politicians.
Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen condemned the Osotsi attack and vowed that political violence would not be tolerated.
However opposition figures dismissed his statement and demanded both his resignation and Omollo's saying senior officials cannot claim ignorance of organised thuggery happening under their watch.
The DCI has arrested three suspects linked to the Osotsi attack who remain in custody as investigations continue. A Kisumu court ordered a forensic audit of CCTV footage from the incident as prosecutors push for robbery with violence charges.
The Lucky Summer MCA has not yet publicly responded to the claims in the video. Authorities have been urged to verify the recording's authenticity and act swiftly before the situation has raised alot of concerns.
