Shock as Secondary School Chief principal Dies By Suicide At His Siaya Home

The education community in Siaya County is mourning the mysterious death of a secondary school principal who was found dead on Friday morning.

Mr. Charles Odero Oluoch, the principal of Dhene Secondary School, is reported to have taken his own life by hanging himself behind his house in Yala.

A worker at his home discovered the body and immediately alerted the police. Officers processed the scene before moving the body to Yala Sub‑County Mortuary, where a postmortem examination will be conducted to establish the cause of death.

Yala Sub‑County OCPD Charlse Wafula confirmed the incident, saying investigations are ongoing to determine what may have led to the tragedy. So far, no clear motive has been identified.

Mr. Oluoch had served as principal for several years and was widely respected for his dedication to improving academic standards.

Teachers and students described him as a firm but supportive leader who worked tirelessly to uplift the school.

His sudden death has left the institution in shock, with many struggling to come to terms with the loss of a man they considered both a mentor and a guide.

Members of the local community have also sent condolences to the family, noting that his death is a major loss not only to the school but to the wider education sector in the area.

His family, colleagues, and students remain in grief as they await answers to understand what led to the incident.
