Kayole Mum Breaks Silence on Why Her Grade 10 Son Is Caring for His Younger Siblings

Ruth Maleve shared her difficult story, explaining how her young son Tito had to grow up too fast and take on adult responsibilities.

She spoke emotionally about how everything changed when the children's father left her, right when she was expecting their fifth child.

Suddenly, she was on her own, with no one to help and no steady money, just trying to get by in Kayole with five kids to raise.

Ruth said things at home got really tough; even basic necessities were hard to come by. Often, they had no food, decent beds, or any regular help.

She explained that during their hardest times, her oldest son really stepped up. He helped look after his younger brothers and sisters, making sure they ate whenever they could, and keeping them all together as a family.

Ruth mentioned she never wanted her son to have such heavy responsibilities at such a young age. But, the family had no choice but to go into survival mode because of their situation.

She admitted that sometimes she leaves home to find temporary jobs, just hoping to earn something for the kids, even if it's not much.

The young mother also thought about how hard all this was emotionally, saying it really hurt her to see her son miss out on having a normal childhood.

She pointed out that Tito has become responsible way beyond his age, often acting as both a big brother and a caregiver.

Even with all these difficulties, Ruth still hopes things will get better for them. Her biggest wish, she says, is to find some stability and give her children back a normal life, where a child doesn't have to carry such a heavy load.

She's asking kind people to help families who are struggling. She urged anyone who can offer support to reach out, explaining that even a little bit of help could bring back dignity and hope for her children in Kayole, and help them meet their daily needs.
