"Very Painful" 3 Kids Left Totally Orphaned After Father Dies in Crash That Killed 3 Students

A tragic road accident along the Kapsabet–Kaimosi–Chavakali road in Vihiga County has left a family shattered after claiming four lives, including three high school students and a widower, Maxwell Aduma.

The three students, from St Francis Kaptik Secondary School, were reportedly heading to class when the fatal crash occurred.

The accident has since plunged the local community into mourning as families struggle to come to terms with the sudden loss.

Among those who died was Aduma, a father of three who had already endured personal tragedy. His wife passed away several years ago, leaving him to raise their children alone.

His death has now rendered the three children completely orphaned. Their grandmother, who had been a source of support to the family, had also died earlier, leaving them without immediate parental or elderly guidance.

What has further shocked residents is what allegedly followed after news of Aduma’s death reached home. Neighbours claim that the children’s stepmother packed household items and left shortly after learning of the tragedy.

The alleged departure reportedly happened as the children were still processing their father’s death and as burial preparations were underway. The claims have sparked anger and disbelief among members of the community.

“This is very painful. The children had already lost their mother and now their father is gone. They are left with no parent and no grandmother,” one resident said.

Local leaders and well-wishers are now calling for urgent intervention to support the minors. Concerns have been raised over their immediate welfare, education and long-term stability.

As the community prepares to bury the victims, attention is increasingly shifting to the fate of the three children, whose future now hangs in uncertainty following a crash that changed their lives forever.
