Three people, including two children aged two and five, have died following a domestic dispute in Nairobi's Huruma estate It all started when a man allegedly entered the one-room house, locked the door from inside, and set it on fire. The two young girls will be buried in Mwingi Sub-County as the children’s mother continues to receive treatment in the hospital.
The incident occurred on Monday, April 20, shortly after midnight in the Mbuthia area, when a neighbour raised the alarm at around 12 am.
By the time police arrived, a small one-room home had already been engulfed in flames, leaving behind a scene of loss that has shaken the close-knit community.

Her cries for help pierced the quiet of the night, drawing neighbours who gathered anxiously outside, desperate to intervene.

The man allegedly opened a gas cylinder and ignited it, triggering a fire that spread rapidly through the confined space. Despite the efforts of neighbours to contain the blaze, it was too late for some.
Two children and a 26-year-old woman died, with authorities citing suspected gas inhalation and severe burn injuries as the cause.
The man and his wife survived but sustained serious burns. They were initially rushed to MSF Hospital before being transferred to Kenyatta National Hospital for specialised treatment, where they remain under care.
The bodies of the deceased were taken to Nairobi City Mortuary, where post-mortem examinations are expected to be conducted. In the days following the tragedy, messages of grief and remembrance have begun to surface.
In a heartfelt post shared online, Sheila announced the burial arrangements for two young girls, Blessing Mutheo, six, and Shine Mutheu, aged one and a half.
