Benard Ngeno, popularly known as Buluu, has emerged as a strong contender for the Emurua Dikirr parliamentary seat following the death of former MP Johana Ng’eno.
Ngeno, a youthful leader from Emurua Dikirr in Narok County, previously served as the personal assistant to the late MP.
His close working relationship with Ng’eno helped him understand the needs of the constituency, especially on issues like land, development, and community welfare.
The seat fell vacant after Ng’eno died in a tragic helicopter crash in Nandi County. Since then, Ngeno has quickly gained popularity and is now seen as a front-runner for the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket ahead of the upcoming by-election.
Ngeno is often described by locals as a “son of the soil” who understands the struggles of ordinary residents. He began his education at Oreiyet Primary School before joining Kipsuter Boys High School. He later attended the University of Nairobi.
Supporters say his journey from local schools to a top university shows he can connect both with grassroots communities and national leadership.
Ngeno entered politics through his role as Ng’eno’s personal assistant, where he handled constituency matters and interacted directly with residents. After mourning his former boss, he stepped forward to continue his legacy.
His campaigns have focused on unity, peace, and development, especially in areas like Kipkandulit and Kapsasian wards.
Several aspirants, including Ezra Sawe and Bernard Rono, have stepped down and endorsed him. Even the late MP’s widow, Naiyanoi Ng’eno, withdrew from the race after family consultations.
With strong backing from local elders, leaders, and residents, Ngeno is positioning himself as the candidate to carry forward Ng’eno’s vision for Emurua Dikirr Constituency.
