Somber Mood at City Mortuary as 2 Women Swept Away by Nairobi Flash Floods are Identified

Grief engulfed the city mortuary as families identified the bodies of loved ones killed by flash floods on March 6, 2026.

According to reports, over 15 bodies were received at City Mortuary; 9 of them were identified.

Two women were among the bodies identified, and their families revealed the deceased were on their way home from work before being swept away by floods.

Meanwhile, President William Ruto has sent condolences to grieving families, adding the government has put measures in place to help Kenyans affected by heavy rains.

The President, who issued a statement on March 7, 2026, also called on Kenyans to work hand in hand with authorities by reporting flooding cases across the country, adding rescuers have been dispatched.

He revealed the government is working to address the issue of floods and will pay medical bills for victims of the flash floods.

Authorities also revealed a search is ongoing for Kenyans reported missing after the heavy rains.

28 people were reported dead in Nairobi, and over 40 deaths were reported across the country.
