Shock and grief have gripped residents of Rongai following the tragic death of a senior engineer at a construction site in the Baraka area. The incident has left many in disbelief, as the circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear.
The victim, Samson Atambo, aged 52, had reportedly started his day normally. According to a colleague, Jones Mose, the two met near Baraka Police Station before heading to their separate workplaces.
Nothing seemed unusual at the time, making the later discovery even more disturbing.
Concern arose when workers arrived at the construction site but could not find Atambo to open the gate as he usually did.
After waiting for some time, they contacted the site officials and police officers. With assistance, they gained access to the premises and noticed that the store was open, yet nothing appeared to be missing.
Moments later, Atambo’s body was found inside, covered with clothes believed to belong to someone else. The scene raised suspicion, as there were no clear signs of theft, suggesting the possibility of a targeted attack rather than a robbery.
A postmortem examination later revealed that he died from lack of oxygen after being strangled. He also had head injuries caused by a blunt object, indicating he may have been attacked before his death.
Police have launched investigations, with several individuals already questioned. Detectives are also looking into reports of a disagreement involving the engineer as they work to uncover the motive behind the killing.
