KTN to Air Chilling CCTV Footage of Slain MP Charles Ong’ondo Were’s Final Moments Tonight

Nairobi — A new television special scheduled for Sunday night will revisit the killing of Kasipul Member of Parliament Charles Ong’ondo Were, nearly a year after the shocking attack that left the country demanding answers.

Kenyan Television Network (KTN) announced that it will broadcast previously unseen CCTV footage showing the movements leading up to the April 30, 2025 shooting along Ngong Road in Nairobi.

The program, titled “Ong’ondo’s Final Hours,” is expected to reconstruct the lawmaker’s last moments through a sequence of surveillance clips collected from multiple locations within the city.

According to details shared ahead of the broadcast, the footage traces the MP’s movements from the vicinity of Parliament Buildings through several city streets before the fatal attack.

Cameras positioned along key routes reportedly captured a motorcycle believed to have been used by the attackers following the MP’s vehicle through traffic.

Investigators said the shooting occurred near the Nairobi Funeral Home roundabout on Ngong Road.

A gunman riding on a motorcycle allegedly approached the MP’s vehicle while it was slowed in evening traffic and fired several shots through the passenger-side window.

The legislator sustained critical injuries and was rushed to The Nairobi Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. His bodyguard, who was inside the vehicle at the time, was not injured during the attack.

Authorities described the killing as a carefully planned hit, noting that the suspects appeared to have followed the MP’s movements from the parliamentary precincts earlier that day. Investigators have previously indicated that the attackers may have studied his routine before striking.

The case drew national attention and prompted President William Ruto to direct security agencies to intensify investigations. Despite the high-profile probe, no suspects have been publicly charged so far.

KTN says the program will present a detailed breakdown of the CCTV clips, offering viewers a timeline of events in the hours before the shooting.

The broadcast is expected to renew public discussion around the unresolved assassination and the progress of the investigation.
